How to obtain a list of Advocates and their Successful Referrals

Find out how to obtain a list of your advocates and their successful referrals

Once you have activated your campaign and invited your customers to join you can see a list of your advocates under the 'Advocates' tab.

In this article we show you how to;

  1. See who has signed up and their referral progress

  2. Export advocate information

  3. See a list of advocate's referees

  4. Resolve any potential 'fraud' activity

  5. Export a list of successful referees

Select the Advocates page from the left hand menu.

1. See who has signed up and their referral progress

Gather distinguishes between two types of Advocates. 'Active' advocates refers to those that have signed up and sent an invitation to a friend. The rest are advocates that have signed up but not yet sent out a referral invitation.

To see a list of all advocates, including those who have not invited friends, you can click on the 'All Advocates' heading.

To see a list of Active advocates, those who are making referrals, click on the 'Active Advocates' heading.

Gather provides you with the name, email, number of pending referrals and the number of successful referrals an advocate has made. You can also click through to see a the details of the friends.

You can also see a list of advocates by reward tier in the Active advocates window.

2. Export advocate information

Gather allows you to export the information about your advocates as a CSV file. Simply click on the 'Export Page to CSV' button to download a list of names and email addresses of your advocates and the time they subscribed.

3. See a list of advocate's referees

You can also see a list of the people your advocates have successfully referred. Click on 'referrals' to open up the list.

Like the advocate list, you will be given the name, email and referral status of each person.

If you have integrated your account with MailChimp/Shopify. The table of referrals will also tell you if the referred friend’s details have been successfully synchronised.

4. Resolve any potential 'fraud' activity

If, in the Preferences section, you selected the 'enable fraud detection' option, you will be given a Fraud detection risk for each referee. If a fraud risk is detected (e.g. a customer is trying to refer themselves for a discount code) a risk will be displayed and you will be asked to 'authorise' the referral before any reward codes are sent out.

The list of advocates will inform you of the fraud risk for the referrals and alert you to any action that is required. Fraud detection works by looking at the IP address and of the advocate and the friend to identify possible self-referral.

5. Export a list of successful referees

In the same way in which Gather allows you to export a list of advocates, you can also export, to a CSV file, a list of the successful referees by clicking on the 'Export Page to CSV' button.

The list will include the name and email of the referees and the advocate who referred them.
