How to Choose your Existing Opt-in Messaging

Gather allows you to choose the message you serve your leads if they opt-in again.

Often when a lead opts-in to your targeted opt-in campaign they do not use their reward code straight-away. With a Gather campaign you can choose to send your leads an auto-responder email with an link to their reward code. In addition, Gather also allows you to choose the message you serve to a lead if they sign up again on your site.

In this article we explain how to set the messaging for those who have already opted-in.

Starting in the Configure section of your campaign, you will see that there is a drop down box called ‘Existing Opt-in Behaviour’. Here you have 2 options. The default option for a campaign is ‘Return ‘already/exists’ Message’. This means that if someone signs up with an already registered email address they will be served an ‘already exists’ message.

There are circumstances, for example, if choose not to include an auto-responder email or your auto-responder email doesn’t include the reward code, where subscribers may find it hard to remember their reward code.

In which case, you can choose the second option from the ‘Existing Opt-in behaviour’ box being; ‘Return existing reward code/success message’.

With this option, your subscriber will be served the message that you have included in the opt-in pop confirmation section in the campaign Editor.

Where you use the return success message option we recommend that you include the floating campaign button on your website so that it is easier for leads to obtain their reward codes.

As always, remember to save all changes you make to your campaign and if you have any questions about your campaign messaging get in touch as hello@gathercustomers.com.
