How to Design and Edit your Own Promoter Retargeting Email.

If you have selected the 'Potential Promoter Retargeting' option in Preferences learn here how to customise the email sent to advocates.

Gather recommends that you use email follow-ups to remind Advocates to forward a referral email to their friends. This option is listed in the Preferences tab.

In this article we show you how to edit the follow-up email that is sent to your Advocates who have not made a referral.

We will show you how to;

  1. Navigate to the Editor section

  2. How to Edit your email using the new editor

  3. How to Use Merge tags in your email

1. Navigate to the Editor section

The Editor tab is where the retargeting email can be edited. To arrive at the retargeting email editor for your campaign, open the Editor tab along the top of the page and within the page you will see a number of heading on a black background. Click on the Retargeting Email tab to see the default email.

If you are an existing Gather customer you will see that you are invited to activate the new Retargeting Email Editor in the yellow box.

2. How to Edit your email using the new email editor

Using the new email editor, Gather enables you to edit the layout and content of the retargeting email message that will be sent to advocates who have yet to make a referral.

First up you are able to change the copy of the Subject line of the retargeting email. The default subject line includes the merge tag for the referrer’s name so the friend knows from the subject line who has made the referral.

The body of the message can be customised to include;

  • A campaign/brand specific image

  • Merge tags

  • campaign/brand specific copy

Gather’s email editor enables you to include your own campaign/brand specific image in the email. You can do this by uploading an image to the editor.

Using Gather’s email editor you can change the font and the copy layout. You can personalise your messaging with Merge tags.

Using Gather’s email editor you can insert buttons with links to your referral campaign in your email. You can edit the colour to match your branding. By default the button will take the you to the advocate’s unique invitation link.

3. How to use Merge Tags in your Email

Gather uses merge tags to make your email invitations more personal.

As part of the retargeting email editor you can include any of the following tags:

  1. Referrer (advocate) name

  2. Referrer (advocate) first name

  3. Account (Name of your account)

  4. Invitation URL (Unique link to campaign for your referrer)

The process for inserting merge tags is simple. Click in the body of the message where you would like to insert a tag and then click on the tag you would like to insert from the merge tag drop down menu.

Now your email is ready to send, but before you navigate away from the page, please remember to save your changes by clicking on the green button.

Got any questions? First head to your Gather account, then click on the Help & Support menu item on the left hand side.
